Using matte top coat has been around for a while, but has recently become more and more trendy. For those of you who don't know what a matte top coat does, I will post some pictures in my photo album to give you an idea. It basically makes your nails look chalky and dull.
My favorite time to use matte top coat is over dark colors, and over glitter polishes. When you paint matte over pastel colors, it usually isn't very noticeable and I think it ruins the look, but dark colors look drastically different matte than they do glossy. I like the matte over glitter polishes because it dulls the background color but the glitter still sparkles through making it even more dramatic and adding some dimension. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of glossy nails, but if you're looking to switch things up, think about giving the matte look a try!
Just recently made a few beauty related purchases at Walmart. First off there were a few Sinful Colors polishes on sale for $1.98 each, so I picked up two glitter polishes. The first is a beautiful blue based glitter polish with rainbow hexagon and small dot glitters called Hottie (831). The second is a deep tealish color with the same style of glitter called Nail Junkie (927). The second of the two sort of reminds me of a mermaid tail.
I also purchased a nude/peachy L'oreal polish with a shimmery pearl tone called Versailles Romance (310) for $4.97. Finally I bought a nude lipstick by Revlon called Nude Attitude (001) for $4.97. I've already done a review on it and I've included the video below!
I've never been good at keeping a journal, but I've always wanted to. I hope you enjoy my sporadic posts about beauty, fitness/health, and various other topics.
