I received my e.l.f. products today and so far I'm not very happy. First of all, one of the products I ordered was missing, but unlike my Jordana Cosmetics order, I was still charged for it. I emailed their customer service and they responded very quickly saying they will be shipping it out to me, so we'll see how that works out. Secondly, one of the nail polishes I ordered came in the wrong color. On the bottom of my order form it said that two polishes were mislabeled so although my nail polish says the wrong name, it's the right color. However the color I received had the right name but was the wrong color. I emailed them a second time and they should be shipping me the correct color with the other missing product. I haven't tried any of these products yet, so these are just my initial thoughts.
As for the products, I got quite a variety of things. The product I am most excited about is a custom quad called e.l.f. elements. The empty palette costs $1.00 and you have the option of purchasing eyshadows, lip products, or face products. I bought all eyeshadows for $1.00 each so the entire custom eyeshadow quad cost me $5.00 total. Each product comes separately so you can put them in the quad yourself however you want. The compact itself has a very nicely sized mirror and it also has an indentation for an eyeshadow applicator which it also comes with. This particular applicator had a lip brush on one end in case you wanted to have lip products and eyeshadows in your quad which I thought was a nice touch. However, the lip brush I received is very disappointing. The bristles are bent in all directions and some of them were pulled out entirely. The bristles that are still intact are uneven, look very dirty, and you can even see the glue that is failing to hold them in place.
Next, I purchased one of their mineral lipsticks for $5.00 in Natural Nymph. I really like the packaging because it closes really easily, and stays closed. The lipstick bullet itself is a very nice color, and a fairly decent size. To be completely honest I wish there was just a little more product in it for the price, but overall I am pretty happy with it so far.
I already mentioned one nail polish, but I also purchased a matte top coat for $2.00. I am very happy with the product size (0.34 fl oz / 10mL) and it appears to have a nice consistency although I have yet to try it out. If you haven't read my blog post on matte top coats, please check it out!
I also picked up one of their Healthy Glow Bronzing Powders for $1.00 which I think is an awesome deal. For me, bronzers are a tough thing to find for my skin tone. There never seem to be many options at the drugstores color wise, so the color I buy always seems too dark for me. I was pleased to find that e.l.f. has more of a variety including some colors light enough to use for highlighting. (Another product I have trouble finding in drugstores).
Next, I got a makeup mist and setting spray which I'm pretty excited about. The only setting spray that I have is by Urban Decay and it was pretty expensive for a VERY small amount of product ($12.00 for 0.34 oz). The one from e.l.f. however, is 2.02 fl oz (60mL) for only $3.00. I am very interested to see how the quality of the two brands compare.
Lastly, I bought their Eye Refresh product. Usually when I wake up in the morning my eyes are very puffy, especially my under eye area. I have been looking for a fairly inexpensive product that I can quickly pop on in my morning rush that will not only refresh my eyes, but help with the puffiness, so I decided to give this a try. It's a roll-on product said to contain lots of great ingredients including; pomegranate, rosemary, green tea, cucumber, and grape.
