I haven't made any large cosmetics purchases lately, however, I have made several smaller ones. Some were made because I was interested in the products, and others were made because I was interested in the company in general. For example, Two Cosmetics is a makeup company that donates one makeup product to a local charity for every one they sell. I thought this would make all their products too expensive, but their pricing is actually very resonable, so I decided to try something out. Their gel liners sell for $5.00 each so I bought one in Double Shot which is a darker brown color. The other gel-type eyeliner I have is the e.l.f. cream eyeliner which sells for $3.00. Just for some comparison, a Stila smudge pot sells for $20.00 and a Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner sells for $22.00, so I'd say Two Cosmetics is pretty reasonably priced.
Another purchase I made because I was curious about the company was from Walgreens. I've heard a lot about the Wet n Wild brand, but never had a chance to try anything out, so I picked up two nail polishes. The first is Wet n Wild Megalast: I Need a Refresh-Mint (218A) which is an almost tiffany blue color. It has a really wide brush which makes it very easy to apply. The other is Wet n Wild Fastdry: The Wonder Yellows (224C) which is a bright shimmery yellow. It's a little on the sheer side, but a couple coats gives pretty solid coverage.
While I was at Walgreens, I also picked up another Sinful Colors polish because at $1.99 you can't go wrong. It's a beautiful dark blue color with holographic bar glitter called Faceted (1139). I'm anxious to try it out because it's my first polish that has the bar style glitter in it. I also bought a black and white polish by Sinful Colors from Walmart for $1.99 each. The white is Tokyo Pearl which I previously owned and loved so much I used it up and bought another. The black is called Black on Black.
I bought a few things off of ebay recently as well. The first was a nail polish called Chunky Black Holo which has a sheer black base with chunks of holographic glitter in it. I also bought a face exfoliating tool because I'm tired of buying facial scrubs on a somewhat regular basis. It has rounded bristles made of silicone so it's not too harsh on my skin, and it was around $1.00 which included free shipping so I thought I'd try it out.
I also bought some lip butter type products for a comparison video which will be uploaded soon. The ones I purchased were Revlon's Lip Butter in Candy Apple, Maybelline's Color Whisper in Orange Attitude, and two Colour Riche Balms from L'Oreal (Pink Satin and Plush Plum).
For Valentine's Day, I received a gift card for Kohl's which I used to buy a new shirt for working out in, but I had a little money left over so I purchased an Essie polish. I'm not particular fond of Essie because I feel like they're greatly overpriced, but I was in a hurry and the polish was sitting on the counter so I just grabbed Essie - "Power Clutch".
Keep up with products I'm trying out before I review them along with other beauty tips and information here!
