Recently I watched a monthly favorites video on YouTube by SecretLifeOfaBioNerd and she mentioned her Conair Facial Sauna System. Previously, I would just lean over a pot of boiling water and hold a towel behind my head to catch the steam which is effective but not very convenient. So I decided to take the plunge and buy one for myself!
This seems like a good time to mention some money saving tips for buying online. First of all, I use something called Ebates which is an online website that provides coupons and cash back. It's completely free and it's a great way to save a little extra money on something you were going to buy anyway. I've been a member since 2011 and have gotten over $70 in cash back rewards through them. The way it works is you go to Ebates and look up the online store you want to shop at. Then all you do is click on the link to that store, and Ebates will reward you with a certain percentage of your purchase. Remember to always start out at Ebates! I've provided a link for you guys if you're interested in becoming a member so all you have to do is click here on this --> Ebates!
Now back to my steamer! I purchased it at Drugstore.com which had 6% cash back at the time. You may be thinking 6% isn't very much, but if it's something you're going to be buying anyway, why not take that extra click through Ebates to save yourself a little money! I got free shipping from Drugstore.com so my purchase ended up being around $29.00 after taxes which gave me just under $2.00 cash back from Ebates.
Anyway, enough with my purchase let's get on to how to use it! It's really very simple, you add a little water to the base of the system and then add one of the attachments provided to help channel the steam towards your face. There's a more cone shaped attachment, and a more cylindrical one which is designed for concentrated steaming. You can also add other ingredients to the water such as essential oils, or my favorite, green tea which just increases the benefits of the steam and also gives you a little quick aromatherapy.
So why use facial steaming? The heat helps open up your pores which makes it easier for your skin to absorb serums, moisturizers, eye creams etc. So after steaming, gently pat your face dry with a towel and use your favorite facial products. After applying them, don't forget to cool your face down to close your pores back up to lock those products in. You can do this by lightly rubbing an ice cube over your skin.
Hopefully you guys found this post helpful! I appreciate all your comments and emails so if you have any questions please feel free to ask!
